The Week In Review - week 10

The Week in Review…
Congrats to the Rams who broke through the ice this week to get their first victory upsetting the Saints in Louisiana which is a step backward for the team from New Orleans. On the injury front AP had to be helped off the field and will be going for an MRI on Monday which is never a good thing and the other rookie Marshawn Lynch turned an ankle though at least he scored a TD before he headed to the bench so be prepared to check your injury reports next week if you own either of them.
Now on to the games…
The Games:
Dirty Birds 20 @ Pussy Cats 13
What a boring game as the Falcons scored on their first and last possessions but nothing else and the Panthers got their TD from their defense. I do think there were more players over 40 in one game that I have ever seen as Vinny T started the game and Morten kicked in it and they are 89 years old combined. Dunn and Crumpler scored for the Falcons and that is all that happened in this one.
Bills 13 @ Winless Fish 10
Another boring contest for Fantasy owners as this game had no offensive rhythm to it whatsoever. The rookie RB from Buffalo scored one before he left the game and Lemon ran in the other one. I thought the fish might get into the win column but they could not hold back the Bills in the 4th quarter.
Rams 37 @ Saints 29
The Rams broke into the win column this week in a shoot-out with the Saints. Bulger threw for 300 + and 2 TD’s one to Bruce and one to Bennett. Holt had a 124 yards and SJax ran for one and threw for another. The Saints got off to a slow start but Brees wound up with 272 yards throwing for 2 TD’s and 2 Int’s. His primary target was Coltson but found both his TE’s for his touchdowns. Reggie Bush also got a little dinged but he did find the end zone in a relatively unproductive game for him.
Broncos 27 @ Chiefs 11
What a difference Jay Cutler makes as the Broncos looked like a different team this week in Arrowhead. Travis Henry did not play but no matter as Selvin Young stepped in and ran for a score + a c-note. The Chiefs were without LJ and therefore without their offense as they only managed to kick 3 FG’s and score a safety.
Bungles 21 @ Ravens 7
The Bungles moved the ball between the 20’s but never found the end zone as Shayne Graham kicked 7 FG’s this week for all their scoring in this one. The Ravens got their touchdown once the reigns were turned over to Mr. Boller who promptly led them down the field for a score though it was a little too late.
Vikings 0 @ Packers 34
The Packers are for real folks as today they ran on the Vikings which noone does and Brett Favre was his usual self throwing for 351 yards and 3 TD’s though they were not to his usual suspects as Rovell Martin caught two and one to Donald Lee who just got his contract extended. The beneficiary of the rebound running game is Ryan Grant who put up a career best 119 yards and a TD. The only thing that happened for the Vikes in this game was the loss of AP, the bigger question is for how long.
Jaguars 28 @ The Titans 13
A defensive tackle can make quite a difference as the Titans were without Mr. Haynesworth which allowed the Jags to run all over the Titans as MJD ran for a 100 +a score and Fragile Freddy found the end zone as well. Vince Young and company can not come from behind and they were today which took them out of their running game and force Vince to pass which is no good for anyone as he had more Int’s then TD’s this week. Lindale White could not find a rhythm and came off hobbling towards the end of the 3rd quarter so you need to check on him later in the week.
21 Lions @ Cardinals 31
The Cardinals defended their home turf in a game that was marred by Turnovers. Kurt Warner threw for 3 TD’s two to Fitz and one to Pope who also caught one from Rattay giving him two on the day. The Lions ran for -18 yards so that will tell you the kind of day that Kevin Jones had though he did score a TD. Roy Williams and Jon Kitna hooked up twice in the 4th quarter as the Lions feverishly tried to come back.
Eagles 33 @ Skins 25
Donovan McNabb had one of those games throwing for 4 TD’s and his primary target was Mr. Westbrook who caught two and ran for another. McNabb’s other two went to two players who have been a disappointment this year as LJ Smith and Reggie Brown hauled them in. The Skins put up a good fight as Jason Campbell threw for 3 TD’s, two to James Thrash and the other to Kennan McCardell so I doubt anyone benefited from those.
Browns 28 @ The Steelers 31
This game was a lot closer then I thought it would be as both QB’s kept their teams in it. Big Ben threw for 2 and ran for one finding Hines Ward and Heath Miller for scores and Willie Parker ran for over a 100 but could not find the end zone. Derek Anderson continued his stellar play throwing for 3 TD’s one each to Winslow, Edwards and Vickers.
Bears 17 @ Raiders 6
In the final yucky game of the day the Bears were led to victory by Rex Grossman who came in to replace an injured Gresie and found Berrian deep for a score. Cedric Benson ran for a score and 76 yards which was all the offense in this game.
Cowboys 31 @ G-men 20
Tony Romo led the Cowboys to victory hooking up with T.O. twice, and one each to Crayton and Tony Curtis. The Giants were led by Shockey who had a huge game this week catching 12 balls for a 129 yards and a score. Brandon Jacobs had 95 yards on the ground but his TD was called back due to a holding call late in the 3rd.

The Week In Review

The Week in Review…
Well, well, well once in a season is a fluke, twice in a season is awesome and that is what is Adrian Peterson, the Viking rookie is, simply awesome! The performance he had today was unbelievable; 296 yards and 3 TD’s against the Chargers. All I can say is WOW! I am sure if you were like me and faced AP you went down in flames this week as that is a big time performance. In a year when we are talking about QB’s and WR’s quite often the three of the top four scorers were RB’s as Jamal Lewis and Addai both had big days. As we head to week 10 there are only 5 more games left this season so it is gut check time in the fantasy world and injuries are playing a major factor as LJ went down, Ocho Cinco left on a stretcher, Henry, Cutler & Norwood are all banged up as well.
Now on to the games…
The Games:
Pats 24 @ Colts 20
The game was billed as “the real superbowl” and it did not disappoint the viewers and from a fantasy perspective as Mr. Brady threw for 3 TD’s one each to Moss, Welker and Faulk. Peyton ran for 1 and threw for another and Addai ran for a hundred and turned a screen pass into a long touchdown. Wayne, Clark and Stallworth had below average days but at least Wayne and Clark will bounce back as well as we should see the return of Mr. Harrison next week.
Bolts 17 @ Vikings 35
Wow what a performance by the team that resides in the land of many lakes. The Vikings proceeded to run all over the Bolts as AP ran for 3 and 296, Chester got 60 and a score as well. It is quite an impressive performance by the O-line and RB’s as teams know the Vikings are going to run and yet they still can which is simply awesome. LT found the end zone but that was all for the Chargers from a fantasy perspective as Gates, Chambers and Rivers disappointed many fantasy owners by getting shut down by the worst pass defense in football.
The Pack 33 @ Chiefs 22
Brett Favre is putting together a season to remember as he led to the Pack to victory while throwing for 360 yards and two scores as well. The recipient of the old man’s generosity was Mr. Jennings who caught them both one of which went for 60 yards. LJ was on a roll in this game until he turned an ankle and did not return but did find the end zone twice before he took his seat on the bench. Let’s hope LJ is ok as he looked like he was returning to form.

Broncos 7 @ Detroit’s Finest 44
The Lions pounded on the Broncos who lost Cutler early in the game and then Travis Henry a little later. The defense of the Lions scored twice and Kitna threw for two more; one to McDonald and the other to Furrey. All the Broncos disappointed today and things are looking gloomy in Denver.
Bungles 22 @ Bills 33
Folks, the Bungles are really bad and this week the Bills got their chance and did not disappoint. We can officially welcome back Lee Evans 9 balls for 165 yards and a TD but the real star was the other stud rookie running back Marshawn Lynch who ran for one, threw for another and scampered for over 150 yards as well. The Bungles and Carlson Palmer are reeling but Carlson did throw for 2 TD’s one to “The Housh” who is lone bright spot on this year’s squad.
49ers 16 @ Falcons 20
The Falcons won the battle of the really bad teams as neither squad to move the ball with any consistency, though the Falcons found a bit of a running game as Mr. Dunn ran for a c-note and a score. The 49ers continue to struggle and without Frank Gore there was no balance to their attack and were under constant pressure from the Falcons “D”.
Panthers 7 @ Remember The Titans 20
Lindale White scored the hat trick and ran for the century mark for third straight game and found the end zone as well. The Panthers could do nothing against the vaunted defense from Tennessee as the Titans sacked Mr. Carr 7 times and intercepted him once and for those who have them on their roster make sure to hang on to them.
Cardinals 10 @ Bucs 17
The Bucs D brought their A game to this one as they shut down the running game of the Cardinals completely though Edge did find the end zone. Jeff Garcia and Joey Galloway hooked up for a score but the story for the Bucs was Earnest Graham who ran for more then a 100 and found the end zone as well.
Skins 23 @ The Jets 20 in OT
Clinton Portis literally put the Skins on his back and he led them to a comeback victory against the Jets by carrying the ball 36 times for a 196 yards and found the land of milk and honey once along the way. All the other scoring for the Skins were done by their kicker Suisham who put it through the uprights 5 times including the game winner in OT. The new QB of the Jets Mr. Kellen Clemens did no better then the hanging Chad as he could only lead the team to one score on the day. At least New Yorkers still have the Giants to be excited about.
Jags 24 @ The Saints 41
Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints look like they have found their mojo as they lit up the Jaguars whose defense has been playing quite well. Drew put the ball up in the air 49 times gaining 445 yards and three TD’s one each to Patten, Moore and Mr. Bush who also ran one in as well. Quinn Gray threw for 2 TD’s a long one to Reggie Williams and one to Dennis Northcut. The Jags running game was non-existent as they were playing from behind most of the game and were forced to throw more then they like.
Seahawks 30 @ Browns 33 (OT)
The second overtime game of the day was a high scoring affair as the crowd in Cleveland was certainly entertained by the offensive show. The Browns came out the victors and used the pass to get down the field but each time they got close they handed the ball of to Jamal Lewis who found pay dirt 4 times yet only managed to gain 37 yards on the day. The rest of the Browns certainly put up a lot of yards as Anderson threw for 364 yards a buck twenty-five went to Mr. Winslow and another 67 went Braylons’ way. The Seahawks on the other hand were led by Matt Hasselback who threw for 2 TD’s one to Bobby Engram and the other to a healthy DJ Hackett who has been on the sidelines all season.
Texans 24 @ Raiders 17
The Texans were without their starting QB and their #1 WR, yet they found a way to win today behind the legs of former Heisman trophy winner Ron Dayne who rushed for 122 yards and a score after replacing Ahman Green yet again who gave it a go and found the end zone as well. Sage Rosenfels peformed admirably finding Andre Davis for a score right after the Raiders had cut the lead to 7 in the 4th quarter. Justin Fargas was the lone bright spot for the Raiders carrying the rock 23 times for over a 100 yards and a score. It will be interesting to see who gets the majority of the carries for the Raiders moving forward as Lamont was healthy but only carried the ball 4 times and caught two balls out of the backfield for no impact whatsoever.

The Week in Review

The Week in Review…
As the weather begins to change around the country, fantasy footballers are getting used to the fact that if you don’t have players from the Pats, Chargers, Colts, Cowboys and dare I say Browns, you anxiously watch and wait every week to see who will rise to the occasion and carry your team to victory. This week was no different as those 4 teams (Cowboys were on a bye) continued to put points on the board and their studs continue to reward their fantasy owners.
The Games:
Skins 7 @ Pats 52
VIP’s – Brady 3 Passing, 1 Running – Welker 9-89 + a TD & Moss 3-47 + a TD
Trash – The Redskins (though Cooley caught a late touchdown)
Texans 10 @ Chargers 35
VIP’s – Gates 3-92 + 2 TD’s, Rivers 3 TD’s
Trash – LT had only 77 yards and you simply expect more from the overall #1 Pick. – All Texans

Raiders 9 @ Titans 13
VIP’s – Lindale “I brought my lunch pail to work” White – 25 carries for 133 yds but did not find the end zone.
Trash – Vince Young – 42 yards passing, Lamont Jordan – 16 yards rushing and everyone else who plays for these offensively challenged teams.

Bears 7 @ Lions 16
VIP’s – Kevin Jones 105 yards + a TD & Greg Olsen 6-59 + a TD

Steelers 24 @ Bengals 13
VIP’s – Hines Ward – 8 – 88 + 2 TD’s, Big Ben 2 TD’s & Willie Parker 126 yards + a score
Trash – Ocho Stinko 5 – 51 yards & Carlson Palmer 231 yards and a TD from the consensus #2 QB picked in this years fantasy draft; I don’t think that will cut the mustard.
Colts 31 @ Panthers 7

Trash – Steve “I am lost without my QB” Smith & the rest of the Panthers…

Trash – Adrian “All that hype must have gone to my head” Peterson who could only muster 70 yards in his first start for the Vikes.
Jets 3 @ Bills 13
VIP’s – Lee Evans – Hooray for Mr. Evans who made this prognosticator look like a genius hauling in a bomb for an 85 yard score and crossing the century mar as well.
Trash – The Jets, I can hear the chants in the Meadowlands now. JETS Just End The Season…well no worries it is over.

Waiver Wire Wonders

Waiver Wire Wonders

Another week another star player goes down as Ronnie Brown is done for the year…there were also several players who had to leave the game early from MJD to Travis Henry so check the injury reports as this time of year it is tough to field a healthy team.

QB’s -

Desperate times call for desperate measures as who knows who will be healthy enough to start this week at the QB position. Here are two candidates who are more then likely on your waiver wire and don’t have the worst match-ups I have ever seen.

Dante Culpepper – The Raiders take on The Titans who gave up 4TD’s to Sage Rosenfels who is the Texans back-up as clearly the only way to move the ball on this team is through the air.

Alex Smith – It looks like Alex will return to the line-up this week for the 49ers and he gets to face the Saints who aren’t exactly a shut down defense so look for Alex to return the 49ers to the win column.

RB’s

Jesse Chatman – The once hot RB is now hot again as Ronnie Brown is gone for the year and Jesse gets a chance to prove he is worthy of being called a #1 RB though I hope you have better options as the Fish face the Giants who are enfuego.

Chris Henry – No not the WR who comes back the week after next I am talking about the running back from the Titans who will get his chance to carry the ball quite a bit in their run heavy offense if Chris Brown does not come back this week.

WR’s

Kevin Walter – The Texans WR has two first names and is on quite a tear so if he is on your waiver wire go ahead and grab him.

Arnaz Battle – Alex Smith will be back and he and Arnaz will look to pick-up where they left off before Alex headed to the bench to get healthy.

Defense

Bills – Buffalo gets the Jets this week so they maybe worth taking a chance on as the Jets are in trouble.

49ers – The 49ers get the Saints this week and that should help their defense get back to the way they played the first two games this season.

The Week in Review...

The Week in Review…
Another high scoring week for Brady owners as the Patriot QB topped his performance from last week with 6TD’s against the Fish. Again this week we saw a kicker go crazy as Rob Bironas put 8 through the uprights though he is only owned by an average of 3 percent of all owners so I doubt he did much to swing the balance of this weeks fantasy results. Finally the week had a few more fantasy starters get dinged including Ronnie Brown who has been a consistent performer this fantasy season but overall a healthier week then normal in fantasyville.
The Games:
Titans 38 @ The Texans 36
The Titans looked like they were on their way to a dominating victory before Matt Schaub got hurt and Sage Rosenfels came into relieve him and throw for just under 300 yards and 4 scores. He found four different receivers including a long one to Andre Davis and once to Kevin Walter as well. The Titans were led by their kicker who had 8FG’s but the trend that Fantasy owners have to be most excited about is that Lindale White scored again and this time topped 100 yards as well so make sure to keep him active in your line-ups.
Pats 49 @ The Fish 28
Brady did it again as he through for 6 TD’s throwing 2 to Moss and Welker who is quickly becoming a must start moving forward as the Pats show no signs of putting the ball on the ground. The fish were blown out by the end of the 1st half and may have lost Ronnie Brown for a while so check your injury reports as if Brown is dinged up I doubt he will see the field as the Fish have nothing to play for anymore.
49ers 15 @ The G-Men 33
The Giants continued their surge behind the legs of Brandon Jacobs who ran for a 100 yards + a score and Eli Manning threw 2 more scores one to Shockey and the other to Toomer who has all of the sudden returned to fantasy relevance. The Giants defense also continued to put points on the board as they ran one back and sacked the QB 6 more times. The 49ers struggled offensively yet again and Frank Gore owners are suffering because of it. DJax finally found the end zone towards the final minutes of the game so hopefully they can build upon that.
Dirty Birds 16 @ Da Saints 22
Drew Brees and company did not put up a ton of points but did enough to get victory number two and along the way through 2 scores as well. Brees was about the only performer worth mentioning on the Saints side and well the Falcons were looking good behind Bryon Leftwich until he turned his ankle and had to finish the rest of the game on the pine. Roddy White continued along his breakout season being targeted 8 times for over a 100 yards and a score.
The Bucs 16 @ The Lions 23
The Mike Martz Air show has been grounded but now worries Kevin Jones is back to carry the load for the Lions as he broke the century mark and found the end zone for the third time this season. This is a good sign for the Lions overall as the more the running game produces the better off the passing game will be long term. The Bucs were led by Garcia who threw for 316 yards + 2 scores as the the running game has become less of a factor for this team as the injuries to the line may be too much for them to overcome.
Cards 19 @ Skins 21
Jason Campbell disappointed many fantasy football owners who expected him to at least match the 44 year old QB wonder from the Panthers but produced bubkas throwing for less then a 100 yards and no TD’s. Clinton Portis however did cross the goal line twice but only managed to gain 43 yards on the ground. The Cards are a hurting bunch right now and against the tough D of the skins they struggled on offense. Anquan Boldin however returned to the field and found the end zone in his first day back.
Ravens 14 @ Bills 19
The Ravens went into Buffalo expecting an easy time against the Bills of Buffalo but only found it hard to get their offense going. McGahee broke off a long one on his way to a 114 yard day and Boller found Mason for a score as Derek continues to be a regular producer for the Ravens. The Bills were led by rookie RB Marshawn Lynch who found the end zone yet again and is the most consistent performer in their line-up other then their kicker Mr. Lindell.
Chiefs 12 @ Raiders 10
LJ did it again as he found the end zone for the second time in two weeks and also went for a 100 yards so LJ owners should feel good about putting him in their line-up the rest of the way. LJ was about all there was to talk about in this one as both teams struggled to put up points.
Bungles 38 @ J.E.T.S 31
Kenny Watson was the story in this one as the one-time sub filled in quite admirably for Rudi Johnson find the end zone three separate times for the Bungles who desperately needed a win. The Housh remained Carlson Palmer’s primary target hauling in 4 balls and including one for a score. Chad Pennington may have just done just enough to hold to his job as he found Coles two times and Cotchery once on his way to a 3TD performance.
The Hapless Rams 6 @ Seahawks 33
Who will win first that is the question will it be the Rams or the Dolphins who knows but what we do know is that the Fish still put up points and the Rams do not do so regularly so be wary when playing your Rams. The Seahawks are still waiting for Alexander to wake up but in the meantime they are leaning on the arm of Matt Hasselback who found back-up TE Will Heller twice in the end zone for the only two offensive touchdowns in this game. The rest of the offense came from the kickers and the defense in what must have been a boring contest for everyone but the Seahawk fans.
Vikes 14 @ The Cowboys 24
Adrian Peterson is human as he only found the end zone one time could muster only 63 yards against the defense of the Boys. The other Vikings score came from their defense on a fumble return and they continue to remain a must start moving forward. The Cowboys also got a score from their defense in addition to one the ground from Barber and one through the air from Romo who found T.O in the back of the end zone.
Bears 19 @ The Birds 16
The Brian Gresie led Bears found a way to win again primarily behind 4 FG’s from Robbie Gould and through Brian did throw for 322 yards and a score to Mushin Muhammad. The once vaunted Eagles offense is vaunted no more as maybe that knee is really bothering Donovan Mcnabb as he continues to struggle to find consistency with his wide receiving core as both Brown and Curtis were shut down this week and it looks like those folks who drafted Brown need to begin to find alternative options as he is clearly a bust.
The Steelers 28 @ Broncos 31
The Sunday night game was an exciting one as a Jason Elam last second field goal was the difference in this one. In this game both QB’s played well as Big Ben threw for 4TD’s and Mr. Cutler threw for 3 more in a game where you would have expected the running games to dominate. While Jay spread the ball around Big Ben found his two favorite targets in Heath Miller who grabbed two and Santonio Holmes who found pay dirt once.

Waiver Wire Wonders

Waiver Wire Wonders

Where do you go this week to find help for your injured players or those who are on a bye? Well here are a few folks who might be worth adding to your roster.

QB’s

Jeff Garcia – The Tampa QB is going to have to carry the Bucs now that Cadillac and Pittman are gone so if you need some help this week he might be worth the roster spot as they line-up against the Lions.

Damon Huard – This Chief QB could be worth a flier this week as KC takes on the Raiders in Oakland the Silver and Black will be focusing their attention on LJ which could be lead to a good day for Mr. Huard.

RB’s

Kevin Faulk – The Pats play the Fish and Sammy Morris now banged up so Faulk could be the beneficiary. Pay attention to the injury reports but he could be worth a roster spot if Sammy is down for a long period of time.

Musa Smith – This is a more of a hunch that McGahee could begin to wear down as he is having to carry the Ravens on his back this season.

WR’s

Reggie Williams – If you need a flyer this week go grab Reggie as the Jags face the Colts and will need to put up some points to stay in the game.

Ike Hillard – Ike is quietly putting together a very productive season and while he may not find the end zone that often he certainly has become one of Jeff Garcia’s favorites.

David Patten – Patten has become the #2 man in New Orleans and it looks like the Saints may be getting back on track and they head to Atlanta next week so he could put up some numbers.

TE’s

Desmond Clark/Greg Olsen – Which ever Bear TE is available in your league is worth a roster spot as Mr. Gresie makes them a regular target.

David Martin – Cleo Lemon has made a new friend and his name is David Martin who caught two TD’s last week in Cleo’s debut.

Defense

Seahawks – The Seahawks are reeling but they get a present this week as the Rams come to town and bring their lack of offense with them.

Texans – If Vince Young doesn’t play it will make the Titans one dimensional and that will make this contest a very low scoring affair.

The Week in Review...

The Week in Review…
What an explosive week in fantasy as we say welcome back to the stud running backs led by LT who carried many owners to victory this with AP & LJ and a myriad of others who all had great days on the gridiron. But it wasn’t just the running backs as the QB’s also went wild led by Tom “I am so money” Brady, Derek Anderson & Brian Gresie who all went crazy through the air. The WR’s were led by Housh and Braylon Edwards who both continued to climb the ladder to fantasy stardom. We also lost a few more QB’s in Young & Warner who was already filling in for Leinhart at the RB position Sammy Morris who was subbing for Lawerence Maroney left the game and did not return, but enough with the chitter-chatter lets see what happened in the games.
The Games:
Texans 17 @ The Jags 37
MJD followed up his solid week last week with another fabulous performance rushing for a buck twenty five and finding paydirt twice and one was from 57 so that is a bonus. Garrard threw for two TD’s and over 200 yards so if he was your bye-week replacement that worked out well for you. Andre Davis owners have to be upset as he fumbled a score away at the goaline and was a non-factor in the contest as was Schwab who finished the game on the bench. Ahman Green found no room against the Jags front four and the Texans performer was Kevin Walter who caught 12 balls for a 160 yards but could not find the endzone.
Redskins 14 @ The Pack 17
It was a low scoring contest as the game featured two of the leagues best defenses. The Pack only scored one offensive touchdown and that was by Deshaun Wynn who should be picked up if he is on your waiver wire. Jason Campbell was involved in both TD’s for the skins running for one and passing for another finding Chris Cooley for a score. Brett Favre and his merry band of receivers were held in check but look for them to return in two weeks as the Pack has a bye next week.
Spineless Fish 31 @ The Dawg Pound 41
Make room Peyton & Marvin as Derek and Braylon went wild against the Fish hooking up three separate times and continue to bring it every week. I think Braylon clearly belong in your line-up every week regardless of the match-up and if you have Derek on your team and don’t have a Brady, Manning or Romo you could do worse. The fish were led by fill in QB Cleo Lemon who threw for two and ran for two more. Fantasy superstar Ronnie Brown broke the century mark but could not find the end zone.
Vikes 34 @ Da Bears 31
Wow!! What a performance by Adrian Peterson who ran wild against the once vanted Bears defense heading to the house 3 times from 73,67 & 35 yards away totaling 224 yards. He was not the only one who put up big numbers as Brian Gresie threw 381 yards and 3 TD’s one each to Muhammad, Berrian & Hester who ran back another punt return for a score. If you caught our video show last week and need a bye week replacement I hope you grabbed Mr. Gresie for your squad.
Hornless Rams 3 @ The Ravens 22
This was an ugly game plain and simple. Gus Frerrote who was filling in for Bulger threw 5 INT’s rendering the Rams harmless. The Ravens were led by Matt Stover who kicked 5 FG’s and Willis McGahee who finally found pay dirt. A boring game plain and simple.
Titans 10 @ Bucs 13
The Titans looked lost without their leader Vince Young who left the game and did not return forcing Billy Volek to take the healm. This game was as the score suggests a defensive battle as the Titans got their touchdown from Lindale White who carried it 25 times for the run heavy team from Tennessee. Jeff Garcia found Joey Galloway in the end zone for a score and Matt Bryant kicked 2 through the uprights but this game was boring.
Eagles 16 @ J.E.T.S (Just End The Season) 9
Well it is time to say good-bye to another of our playoff teams from last season proving a 5th place schedule can do wonders as the Jets laid an egg at home against the Eagles failing to reach the end zone at all. The only player who produced points was kicker Mike Nugent who kicked three through the uprights. The once vaunted Eagle offense did just enough to bring home the victory as McNabb hooked up on a 75 yard screen pass to Kevin Curtis who took it to the house. McNabb did throw for 278 and even found Reggie Brown 6 times for 89 yards so maybe not all is lost Brown owners. Brian Westbrook crossed the century mark in his return to the line-up.
Bungles 20 @ Hail to The Chiefs 27
Welcome back LJ as he ran for over a 100 and found the end zone this week his schedule will continue to get better so get ready to ride the gravy train for a while. Tony Gonzalez also enjoyed a nice afternoon as he caught 9 balls two of which were touchdowns and crossed the century mark as well. Carson Palmer and Housh hooked up twice in the end zone as Carlson threw for 300 yards in the loss to the Chiefs. Ocho Cinco was unable to perform his end zone dance this week but he did catch 8 balls for 83 yards.
Pats 48 @ The Boys 27
Tom Brady threw for 388 yards and 5 TD’s to lead the Pats to victory against the Cowboys leaving the Pats and Colts as the only undefeated teams left in the NFL. Tom’s main targets were Wes Welker who caught 11 balls for 124 yards and 2 TD’s and Donte Stallworth who went for 136 and a TD. Randy Moss had a modest day but still found the end zone and about the only bad news for the Pats was the loss of Sammy Morris who left the field early in the 2nd half and did not return. The Cowboys and the offensive machine were led by Romo who threw for 199 and 2 TD’s one of which was to Owens and the other to Crayton who is quickly becoming a mainstay in the Dallas offense.
The Raiders 14 @ LT & The Chargers 28
LT is back folks as he explodes for 4 TD’s and 198 yards on the ground against the Silver and Black which always seem to bring out the best in him. The Bolts Defense also stood out in this game causing 3 turnover while sacking Culpepper 6 times. The Silver and Black found it tough going getting only one TD from their offense as Culpepper found rookie Zach Miller alone in the back of the end zone for a score.
Old Man Testaverde 25 @ The QB Less Cards 10
Vinny Old Man Testaverde says move over George Blanda and leads the Panthers to victory against the QB less Cards who lost Kurt Warner early in the game and had to turn to journeyman Tim Rattay who proceeded to stink it up against the energize Panther defense. Vinny found Steve Smith for a 65 yard bomb and threw for over 200 yards so one might wonder if we will see David Carr behind center next week even if he is healthy. Edge continued to be a focal point for the Cards offense and managed to find the end zone to go along with 80 yards on the ground.
Ain’t Winless No More 28 @ The Hawks 17
We say welcome to the win column to the New Orleans Saints who rode an early special teams touchdown and Drew Brees arm to their first victory who threw two TD’s one to Colston and one his security blanket Eric Johnson. Fantasy owners just want to know was this an anomaly or are the Saints back as even Reggie Bush seemed to get on track. The Seahawks were missing Dieon Branch and never seemed to be able to get on track but still threw two TD’s one to Burleson and the other Obomanu who both had good days in an attempt to replace Branch.

Week 6 Start'em/Sit'em

Week 6 Start’em/Sit’em

Week 5 is in the books and the injuries continue as Leinhart is down an out for the year with a shoulder, Jake also is done as he is undergoing Tommy John surgery, Deion Branch sprained a knee and he will be out at least 3 weeks, Trent Green suffered a grade 3 concussion and it could be both season and career ending. If you add to the fact that 6 teams have byes this week and they are the Bills, Broncos, Lions, Colts, Steelers and 49ers your fantasy line-up is going to be filled with waiver wire pick-ups and back-ups. We will do our best to find a few gems and find a few whom you should avoid.
QB's – (Always Start Brady, Romo, Palmer, Favre….)Start em -
1. Derek Anderson - Great Match-up vs. the Dolphins and with Jamal potentially on the shelf the Browns will look to take advantage of their secondary.
2. Hasselback – I know that Branch is out but the Saints are giving up 31 pts per game right now so I think even without his #1 target he will still find the end zone.
3. McNabb – Donovan and company come off a bye week and they get to play the Jets as there reward who are not playing very well right now so look for McNabb to put up solid numbers in this one.
Sleeper of the week – Brian Griese - The Bears play the Vikings and while the Vikings are great against the run they are not so good against the pass and I believe Brian will continue to progress and put at least two TD’s on the board.
Sit em
1. Carr/Whoever plays QB for the Panthers – The Cardinals are back home and are on a roll and the Panthers offense is ugly even in the games they win.
2. Brees – Until further notice Drew Brees deserves only a spot on your bench as whatever magic he had from last year is gone and on top of that the Seahawks are going to be looking to avenge last weeks poor outing against the Steelers.
3. Vince Young – Vince looked awful against the Falcons so I would be shocked to see him perform well against the Bucs. Vince may win games in the NFL but those W’s don’t transcend to fantasy stardom.
Bust of the week – Jason Campbell – The rookie signal caller looked great against the Lions but this week he heads to Green Bay which is a different story so look for Jason to struggle against the Pack.
RB's – (Always Start – LT…) – It is a sad day when we are down to only one always start back but this season is simply whacky when it comes to backs…
Start'em
1. Larry Johnson – I know he only ran for 12 yards last week but this week he gets the Bengals so I think we are looking at his best performance of the year.
2. Edge – He is on the verge of becoming a must start and the Cards are at home and Russ Grimm has that O-line opening holes for Mr. James..
3. Willis McGahee – He gets his turn to run all over the Rams so put him in your line-up and set in on cruise control.

Start of the week – Ronnie Brown – With Cleo Lemon at the helm Ronnie will touch the ball even more and Cleveland is 30th against the run so expect to see him put up some huge numbers in Cleveland.
Sit em'
1. Adrian Peterson/Chester Taylor – I think the Bears D gained a bit of their mojo back last week and the Vikes are one dimensional so it could be tough sledding against the monsters of the midway.
2. Foster – I think the Panthers are going to lay an egg out west in Arizona.
3. Earnest Graham – The Titan D is tough against the run led by Albert Haynesworth so leave him on the bench.
Bust of the week – Lamont Jordan/Raiders RB – The Bolts are back and they are going to continue their winning ways by shutting down the Raiders…
WR's
Start em (Always start – T.O., Randy Moss, Chad Johnson....)
1. Burress – Plaxico is on a roll so make sure he is in your line-up when the G-men play the Falcons.
2. Braylon Edwards – He and Derek Anderson have chemistry and the Fish have holes in the secondary so I think he has a good chance of finding pay dirt.
3. Bobby Engram – With Deion Branch out Engram is going to become Hasselback’s #1 target so get him in your line-up.
Sleeper of the week – Reggie Brown – I think after a week off the Eagles will look to get their #1WR back on track and the Jets may just be the answer to Reggie’s woes.
Sit em
1. Tennessee WR’s – Vince Young looks awful and the Titans will only throw when they have too.
2. Vincent Jackson – The Raiders CB’s are better then Jackson and he is going to struggle to get open and once the Chargers get up big time they are going to stop throwing the ball.
3. Roddy White – I don’t think that Joey will have time to throw the ball this week at all and this one could get ugly fast .
4. Ronald Curry – I am scared of this match-up as the Chargers are looking to follow-up last weeks performance with another drubbing.
Bust of the week – Joey Galloway – I think the Bucs are in for a long day versus the Titans so Joey is going to have to buckle up for this one.
Defenses
Start'em
1. Bears – Put them back in your line-up especially against the Vikings who lack the offensive weapons to compete with them.
2. Cardinals – The Panthers are hurting and that heat in Phoenix will cause them to wilt.
3. Ravens – They get the Rams this week at home and Frerrotte likes to throw the ball to the other team so make sure they are in there.
3. Giants – Monday night in Atlanta and the Giants have won 3 in a row and there defense is a big part of that.
Sleeper of the week – Browns – Miami is struggling and the Browns are starting to play pretty well so maybe this week there defense takes advantage of Mr. Lemon.
Sit'em
1. Cowboys – The Pats are going to score and the Dallas D is going to be the victim.
2. Redskins – I think the Pack is going to put up some points this week against the Skins.
3. Vikings – This smells like a blow-out waiting to happen.
Bust of the week – Panthers – The Panthers are going to wilt in the heat in Phoenix.
Kickers
Start em
1. Folk - Lots of scoring in Big D
2. Crosby – The Pack is going to move the ball and he is going to be the beneficiary
3. Gould – The Bears kicker is going to be busy against the Vikes
4. Tynes – In a dome against the Falcons need I say more…

Sleeper – Kris Brown kicked 5 against the Dolphins so maybe Dawson will do the same this week in Cleveland.
Sit'em - This simply isn't worth the typing...

Waiver Wire Wonders

Waiver Wire Wonders

Another week in the NFL and another set of Fantasy starters go down. Our primary attraction is a twin billing of Matt Leinhart and Deion Branch who will both miss significant time as Matt broke his collarbone and Deion has a sprained knee. Michael Pittman is also out for quite a while so for the time being the Bucs are down to Earnest Graham as their only RB option, Jamal Lewis tweaked an ankle and Jake just called it a season when he elected to have surgery so with the bye weeks one might as where do I go from here?

QB’s

Kurt Warner – If for some reason he is still available go run and grab him as he is the Cardinals signal caller moving forward.

Cleo Lemon – The Dolphins head to Cleveland this week and Trent Green is done so it is no Cleo’s team.

RB’s

Jason Wright – Jamal Lewis is banged up so Wright could be in-line for more carries..

Dominic Rhodes/Justin Fargas – Just in case Lamont is out for long you could do worse then taking a shot at one of these two…

Selvin Young – I can’t imagine he is still available but if so grab him as Travis’s suspension from the NFL is bound to happen sometime.

Deshawn Wynn – There are worse bye-week replacements as he is getting quite a few touches in Green Bay.

WR’s

Bobby Engram/Nate Burleson – With Deion Branch out for a few weeks they become 1 and 1a for Hasselback and the Seahawks.

Dennis Northcut – If you want a Jaguars receiver on your team this is the one as he is getting most of the balls thrown his way.

Tim Carter – If Joe is out Tim becomes #2WR and in that offense that could be a good play especially with Miami coming to town.

TE’s

Eric Johnson – If you get points per reception he can be your bye-week replacement as he sees the ball a lot.

Randy McMichael – The beleaguered Rams looked much better under Gus so taking a flyer on Randy may be worth it if you need a bye-week replacement for your TE.

Defense

Redskins – They held Detroit’s vaunted offense down and now they get a shot a GB so maybe worth a shot.

Seahawks – The Hawks welcome the Aints to town and since the Aints haven’t shown anything to us yet why would we expect that to differ now.

The Week in Review...

The Week in Review…
Between Bye Weeks and Injuries there were a lot of strange looking line-ups out there in the Fantasy World this week and the trend will continue next week as more teams have byes and Matt Leinhart, Jamal Lewis & Deion Branch all left with injuries and are assured of missing some time. This week is sure to test your bench strength and will present opportunities for those who can afford to wait to make their waiver claims until after those in need make their selection. Well enough with next week lets take a look at what happened on Sunday.
The Early Games:
The Dawg Pound 17 @ The Pats 34
The Pats continued to demonstrate that they are an offensive machine as Brady threw for 3 TD’s however instead of usual bedfellow of Moss, he connected with Watson on 2 and Stallworth on the other. Sammy Morris got the start as Maroney is still out with the groin and went for over a 100 but did not get to the end zone this week. I think Sammy Morris is going to become a regular part of the offense even when Maroney comes back as he has earned it. Derek Anderson put up better numbers then I expected as he threw for 2 TD’s one to stud tight-end Kellen Winslow and another to former Giant Tim Carter. Braylon went for a 100 and is quickly becoming a player you should not consider sitting. On the injury front Jamal Lewis left the game and did not return so make sure to check the injury wire before you put Jamal in your line-up next week.
The Dirty Birds 13@ The Titans 20
This was an ugly contest as both QB’s were atrocious and most of the scoring was provided by the teams’ defenses and special teams. Bryon Leftwich made his debut for the Falcons and looked a bit out of sorts but it looks like the Birds have a QB controversy to deal with as well this season as Vick was not enough. Chris Brown ran in for a score but he and Lindale White split the carries so it looks like this will remain a time share moving forward. On a side note this prognosticator believes that if the Titans can figure out how to fix that offense they are going to be a dangerous team moving forward as that defense is ferocious.
The Cats 16 vs. The Aints 13
Well it is official you can put a fork in the New Orleans Saints as they go to 0 & 4 after losing a game that they had in control on a last second 52 yard field goal from John Kasay. This game did not offer much from a fantasy perspective but Steve Smith did find the end zone so his owners have to be happy with that though he is going to have a hard time doing that on a weekly basis now that Carr is his trigger man. Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and Marques Colston all are now officially off the must start list as they continue to disappoint. Reggie did run for a 100 yards and Drew threw for 250 but this is not what owners expected when they selected these players in the first few rounds of their fantasy draft.
Jags 17 @ Chiefs 7
Maurice Jones Drew owners who kept the faith were rewarded as he broke one loose and found the end zone from 52 yards out and had 82 overall on only 9 carries. The Jags offense did just enough to win and to be honest this game was won by their defense as they held Larry Johnson to 12 yards on 9 carries which safe to say was not what this prognosticator expected as it looked like LJ had returned to form but I guess I was mistaken. Tony Gonzalez went for a c-note and the rookie Bowe produced 71 yards on 4 catches so while they both did not score they did contribute.
The Fish 19 @ The Mighty Texans 22
This game saw Dolphins starting QB Trent Green do down with another head/neck injury which looked very similar to the one that ended his year last year. The fish hung tough behind their stud running back Ronnie Brown who found the promised land and went for a 114, but in the end the foot of Kris Brown proved to be the difference as the Fish remain winless. Kris and his golden leg kicked 5 FG’s including 3 from 50+ for all those who took a chance on Brown we say “What can Brown do for You” as that kind of production from your kicker is a bonus. The rest of the Texan offense was productive but only Ron Dayne found the end zone and the receiving core was quite balanced led by Daniels and Davis who will remain fantasy regulars until A.J and Jacoby come back.
The Cards 34 @ The Battering Rams 31
Another winless team put up a great fight yet just like all the rest the Rams remained winless. As an owner though you have to be happy as their offense came to life behind back-up Gus Frerotte who threw for 3TD’s one each to Holt, McMichael and Bennett. Brian Leonard ran for a 100 but was held out of the end zone but this could be his last game as Steven Jackson is due back next week. The Cards were led by Kurt Warner who went from sharing time to full time as Matt Leinhart broke his collarbone and will be out for a while. Kurt did not fail to disappoint as he ran for one score and threw for another. If you have Kurt on your roster consider him worth starting as he easily could be in the Top 12 fantasy QB’s right now and if he is on your waiver wire go run and claim him.
Lions 3 @ Hail to Redskins 34
Hail to the Redskins..Hail Victory is what they are chanting from the rooftops in D.C. as the skins rolled over the Lions led by rookie signal caller Jason Campbell and a stellar defense who not only held the vaunted Detroit offense to 3 points and they added a safety + a score as well. Jason spread the ball around but found old reliable Chris Cooley for one score and touchdown vulture Mike Sellers with the other as Sellers caught one and ran for another. Clinton Portis had 72 yards on 18 carries so his knee must be o.k. This was a sad day for all those folks who own both Kitna and Roy Williams (I do in one league) as they simply got shutdown by the Skins and essentially gave their owners an extra bye week except this one they were in their starting line-up for sure.

Seahawks 0 @ Steel Curtain 21
The Seahawks traveled cross country and laid a big goose egg as the Steel Curtain held them off the scoreboard so owners of Hasselback, Alexander and Branch all paid the consequences. The Steelers were down to their 2nd string WR core as Santonio Holmes sat out with a hamstring but was active so that had to be a tough one to stomach for those who used him this week. Heath Miller caught the only TD & Davenport ran in for the other two leaving Willie Parker wondering is this a rebirth of the bus or just a one week anomaly?
JETS 24 @ The G-men 35
In the battle of the meadowlands The G-men held strong as they welcomed back Brandon Jacobs who ran for a 100 and found pay dirt and his back-up Derrick Ward also ran for a score and put up 56 yards on 13 carries. Eli Manning continues to mature as he threw for 2 TD’s one to Shockley and one to Plaxico Burress who continues to dominate catching 7TD’s in only 5 games and now he gets a chance to try his luck with Deangelo Hall and the Falcons. The Jets simply turned the ball over too much and the main culprit was Pennington who threw for 3 Int’s and if not for the defense and special teams who provide 2 runbacks for touchdowns this one would have been very ugly for the Jets who clearly are not the team they were last year.
Bucs 14 @ World Champion Colts 33
No Marvin, No Addai, NO Matter…The Colts made it look easy against the Buccaneers as back-up running back Kenton Keith ran for 122 yards and 2 TD’s filling in for Mr. Addai who now has an extra week to rest as the Colts have a bye next week. Peyton threw for 250 and 2 TD’s in a workman like performance finding Reggie for one and Dallas for the other. The Bucs clearly miss Cadillac Williams and Luke Pettigot but they were outmatched from the start in this one. Jeff Garcia did throw for 2 TD’s finding Alex Smith for both. Next week the Bucs get to try their luck against the Titans who won’t be the offensive test that the Colts were but their D may be better.
Bolts 41 @ Broncos 3
Maybe Travis Henry shared his stash with the entire Broncos team as this was a pathetic showing by the home team. The Chargers found their mojo early taking advantage of turnovers to score early and often. Phillip Rivers looked good as he threw for 270 and 2 TD’s one to Jackson and one to Gates who also crossed the century mark. LT had 67 on the ground and 73 through the air but did not find the end zone so while those are good numbers we tend to expect more from LT. The Broncos will try and regroup over the bye week but I am sure it will be overshadowed by PotGate and Travis Henry’s status for the season.
Ravens 9 @ 49ers 7
U.G.L.Y you aint got not alibi you UGLY. This game was the ugly duckling of the day as the Ravens behind 3 FG’s from Stover won this defensive struggle and about the only good thing for fantasy owners was the fact that was no-one was severely injured. Willis McGahee had a combined 136 yards on the ground and in the air and Mason who was a game time decision and caught 11 balls for 85 yards. Frank Gore was a disappoint as expected with only 52 yards on the ground as Arnaz Battle scored the only touchdown of the game on a ball thrown by Dilfer.
Bears @ Pack & Monday Night Game will be updated on Tuesday….

Start'em/Sit'em Brought to you by The Fantasy Football Guru - http://www.thefflguru.com

Week 4 is in the books and the injuries continue as Cadillac is down an out for the year with a knee, Steven Jackson is still out and a virtual whose who in Fantasy Superstar World are questionable with names like Marvin Harrison, Joseph Addai, Clinton Portis, Andre Johnson and Hines Ward and Laurence Maroney not guaranteed of playing in your line-up so pay attention to the injury reports as it is tough to get points from a player who does not start.

QB's – (Always Start Manning, Brady, Romo,….)

Start em -
1. Matt Schaub - Great Match-up vs. the Dolphins as they have stopped no-one and if Dante threw for two last week you can expect the same from Matt.
2. Brees – A week of for Sean Payton and the Saints should allow Drew and company to back on track and the Panthers D is no longer that scary.
3. Favre – Brett is on the verge of making his way to the always start category but this week he gets to throw on the Bears who are beginning to look like the Bears teams of the past.
4. Kitna – I see no reason why the Lions won’t continue to throw their way to victory so keep Kitna active…

Sleeper of the week – I am tempted to keep Joey Harrington up here again but that would be cheating so we are going to go with Eli Manning who goes against the Jets who made Trent Edwards look like a seasoned NFL starter instead of a rookie.

Sit em

1. Hasselback – The Seahawks will have a tough time getting their offense on track as they travel cross-country to face an angry Steeler team coming off their first loss.
2. Derek Anderson – Did you see what the Patriots did to Carlson Palmer?
3. Bulger – The Cardinals already have a good defense and the line did not get any better in St.Louis and still no Jackson to take the pressure off of poor Marc.
4. Cardinals QB’s – Timeshares may be good for winning but are not good for fantasy.

Bust of the week – Phillip Rivers – Rivers who was a draft day favorite is up against Bailey and Bly from the Broncos who know a few things about slowing down a pass offense and the Bronco’s D can’t stop the run so expect LT to do most of the heavy lifting.

RB's – (Always Start – LT, (Addai if Healthy)…)

Start'em

1. Sammy Morris/Maroney – Whichever NE back gets the starting nod is going to run on the Browns D so make sure to get that back in your line-up.
2. Edge – He proved me wrong last week but this week is a no brainer as the Rams are reeling and the Cards have run the ball against everyone.
3. Lindale White – The Titans are tough at home and even though he will split carries with Brown he gets the one at the goal-line.
4. Larry Johnson – I know the Jags play good D but it looks like LJ is all warmed up and ready to go.

Sleeper of the week – Fred Taylor – Jacksonville matches up well against the Chiefs and Fragile Freddy has been getting the majority of the carries and yards so expect him to cross the goal line at least once in this game.

Sit em'

1. GreenBay Backs – Until they find one you can’t play any of them and even the Bears can stop bad backs.
2. Dunn/Norwood – Titans are tough to run on and the Falcons look like a passing team.
3. Frank Gore – I know you spent a high draft pick on him but the Ravens don’t have to defend the pass with Dilfer at the helm so if you have a better option give them a chance if not Frank will certainly get to touch the ball just not sure what he does with it when he has it.
4. Tatum Bell – Kevin Jones is getting the goal-line carries and I imagine this will be the week we see him get the majority of the carries as well.

Bust of the week – Jamal Lewis – Jamal and Cleveland look rejuvenated but the Pats look awesome and I can see this one getting ugly early and making him a non-factor.

WR's

Start em (Always start – T.O., Wayne, Harrison (if healthy), Randy Moss, Roy Williams,..)
1. Marques Colston – Drew Brees will return to form and Colston will be the beneficiary as a bye week to plan for the Panthers is all the Saints will need to get back on track.
2. Andre Davis – Great match-up versus Miami and until Andre returns he is the #1 WR on a good Texan Team.
3. Plaxico Burress – The Jets have one of the worst secondary’s in football and he is on a tear. (make sure to check his status before game time as that ankle could flare up)
4. Larry Fitzgerald – With Boldin out again this week Fitz could see the ball thrown his way a lot more often and the Cardinals have no-one who can cover him.

Sleeper of the week – Antwan Randle-El – The Skins play a Detroit team that hasn’t stopped much of anyone and it looks like Santana Moss could be out which makes Randle-El the potential beneficiary.

Sit em

1. Vincent Jackson – 3rd year WR will find no room to operate against Champ Bailey and company.
2. Steve Smith – Until David Carr proves that he can throw the ball I suggest you find an alternative to Mr. Smith as he is getting hurt my the performance of the former first rounder.
3. Bernard Berrian – Lovie has stated he wants to run the ball more and he will try against the Pack because Woodson and Harris will make Berrian and Muhammad vanish into the dark night sky at Lambeau.
4. 49er WR’s – Until Dilfer proves he can throw these guys should get comfortable on your bench.

Bust of the week – Braylon Edwards – This stud WR has been on a tear lately but the Pats really scare me...I could be wrong but I see no points for the Browns…

Defenses

Start'em
1. Pats – They are simply awesome…
2. Steelers – Angry D with revenge on its mind
3. Ravens – The 49ers are one dimensional and the Ravens are too good to just be run on.
4. Houston – The Texans are tough and Miami is struggling to find its mojo

Sleeper of the week – Cardinals – They get their chance to shut down the once feared offensive juggernaut called the Rams.

Sit'em
1. Bears – I would go grab the Cards, Titans or Giants before I started the once feared monsters of the midway.
2. Bills – The Cowboys are going to light it up in Buffalo on Monday night.
3. Panthers – If you haven’t drop them yet you should as they are going to be under the gun against a motivated Saints Team.
4. Seahawks – I hate when teams have to travel cross country..and the Steelers are tough at home.

Bust of the week – Jaguars – The Jags are going to be the first victim of the return of LJ…

Kickers

Start em
1. Folk - Lots of scoring in Big D
2. Crosby – The Pack is going to move the ball and he is going to be the beneficiary
3. Vinateri – Loves to kick at home and the Bucs could put up a fight on D in the 1st half.
4. Rakers – Indoors and that big leg and he plays the Rams…too many good things on his side…

Sleeper – If you are risk taker line up Matt Bryant from Tampa as the Bucs will drive on Indy but will find it hard to get in the end zone.

Sit'em - This simply isn't worth the typing...

Waiver Wire Wonders brought to you by:

The Fantasy Football Guru - http://www.thefflguru.com

Another week in the NFL and another set of Fantasy starters go down. Our primary attraction this week is Cadillac Williams who is gone for the year with a blown knee. Lamont Jordan is on crutches, Alex Smith is in a sling, Marvin Harrison is limping around, Addai is getting an MRI, Jake may be done for the year and Travis Henry has a bum ankle….the Vikes, Raiders, Cincinnati & Philly all have byes so here are the potential season long replacements and one week wonders to try and guide your team to victory…

QB’s

Joey Harrington – The Atlanta gunslinger has performed well in back-to-back outings and the Falcons face a Titan team which is tough against the run so expect them to have rely on Joey and his WR core for their offense.

Trent Green – The Dolphins head to Houston this week and well the fish don’t play D so Trent could have to air it out just to try and keep the Fish in the game.

RB’s

Michael Pittman/Earnest Graham – If you owned Cadillac and are looking for a replacement grab one of these two bad boys…Pittman will get carries and receptions and Graham will get carries and the goal line touches..

Kenton Keith – If you own Addai or need RB help grab Kenton as even if Addai is 100% healthy Kenton should get some carries…

Dominic Rhodes/Justin Fargas – Just in case Lamont is out for long you could do worse then taking a shot at one of these two…

Selvin Young – If you own Travis Henry go grab Selvin for insurance this week as that ankle could begin to be a regular problem…

WR’s

Andre Davis – Available in most leagues he is a favorite of Coach Kubiak and is #1 until Andre Johnson returns and looks like he will remain a part of the offense after that.

Michael Jenkins – Joey is spreading the ball around and Jenks had 2 TD’s last week but has been getting regular touches.

Dwayne Bowe – If by some chance he is still out there on your waiver list go grab him and consider making him a regular in your line-up…

TE’s

Donald Lee might be worth a shot as he has been targeted 22 times in the past 4 games and has 172 yards to go along with one TD…and the Pack are pass happy

Chris Baker – If you are looking for a bye-week replacement this pass catching Jet could be your answer as he a frequent target in the red-zone…

Defense

The G-men and their sack happy ends play the Jets in a rare regular season tilt between the Meadowland residents and the Jets are struggling while the G-men may have found their mojo

The Cardinals play the Rams and well that means that the Cards are worth a start as the Rams are struggling right now and the Cards are actually playing good defense.

The Titans of Tennessee match-up against the Falcons and have been tough at home so they could be worth a flier…

Here is a recap of the gamses through Sunday Night. Don't forget we have launched a new site at http://www.thefflguru.com/ where you can get archives of our previously published blogs as well as picks for this weeks game from Sweet Lew.

The Early Games:

Houston @ Atlanta

Congrats to the Falcons for the first win and kudos to Joey Harrington who made this prognosticator look good as Joey threw for two scores and 223 yards so if you plugged him as a bye week replacement you made a good call. Michael Jenkins was the recipient of the two scores but don’t get too excited as Joey spread the ball around and well the Falcons aren’t really that good. I did notice that Morten Anderson was 4/5 on Field Goals and while he may not do that every week he may know be a viable bye week option. The Texans were lead by Schaub who threw for 317 and a TD but the real story was the emergence of Andre Davis who went for 117 yards + a score which are two good weeks back-to-back and with the injuries and the new found love by Coach Kubiak Andre could be a factor down the stretch. So if he is not on your roster now clearly you should make some room. There are not too many fantasy studs on either side of the ball but those who expected to get points from Dayne and Roddy were clearly disappointed in their performance and the Texans D was clearly not a good bye week option.

The Pack @ the Vikings

Favre put up huge numbers on his way to capturing the NFL Passing TD record as he threw for 344 and 2 TD’s one to Jennings who has two since he returned to action and one to the rookie James Jones who scored his first while continuing to perform well in a 3rd WR role. If you are weak at WR you could do worse then Jones. As usual the Pack had no running attack but their defense had 4 sacks and INT and recovered a fumble so they continue to be a solid performer. The Vikes biggest fantasy star was their kicker Ryan Longwell who was 3/3 on FG’s including one from 48. AP continued to perform well as he put a 100 yards on a tough defense and clearly is the most talented player on that squad. Donald Driver and Viking Defense owners have to be disappointed in their performance on Sunday as both were a bit off.

Romo’s Boys vs. The punchless Rams…

What can you say Tony Romo is playing his way to this season’s Fantasy MVP trophy as he ran for one, threw for three and totaled over 300 yards for a huge fantasy day. Usually when you get this type of performance from Tony you expect that T.O. has been a huge part of it but that is not the case as he was held to 3 catches and totaled only 31 yards. Jason Witten continued his stellar season with 71 yards and a TD as well as those who grabbed the Cowboy’s D as a bye week replacement were rewarded as they had 3 sacks + an INT and help the Rams to 7 points. Speaking of the Rams Bulger and company simply are overmanned upfront and until that problem is resolved they are going to struggle to score points.

Cleveland @ Baltimore

This may have been the most surprising score of the day as I simply did not see Derek Anderson and Braylon Edwards having their way with the Ravens secondary as D.A. threw for 2 TD’s and Braylon took one to the house from 84 yards out. Jamal Lewis did just enough as he had one score to go along with his sixty yards. On the Ravens side a lot of players accumulated yards as McNair went for 300 and a TD, McGahee went for over 100. I am sure their a lot of Ravens Defense owners who are wondering what happened to them this week and all I can say is SanFran is next and they don’t throw the ball well so expect them to turn it around.

JETS @ Buffalo

This one was a low scoring affair but the bills rookie QB guided them to victory and may have given Lee Evans owners a little hope as he had his best day of the year. Marshawn Lynch continued to perform as he found the end zone once while gaining 79 yards along the way. Thomas Jones owners have to be upset by his performance as one week after torching the Dolphins he found no running room against the Bills and has yet to find the end zone. Coles and Cotchery continue to be serviceable WR’s for fantasy owners as Cotchery went over a 100 yards and Coles found the end zone.

Raiders @ The Fish

Dante Culpepper led the Silver and Black to victory as he became the first player to run for 3TD’s and throw for 2 more. I would say those who need QB help might want to go claim Culpepper as he could be a good bye week replacement or spot starter based upon the match-up. The Raiders got some bad news as Lamont had to leave the game but his replacement Justin Fargas ran wild on the spineless Dolphin defense gaining 179 yards on the ground. Dante’s 2TD’s went to Joey Porter but this offensive outburst bye the Raiders is more a testament to how poor the Dolphins are playing then the power of the Silver and Black. The Dolphins were led by Ronnie Brown who proved me wrong and found the end zone while crossing the century mark on the ground while I was spot on with Chris Chambers who found no room to work against Asomugha.

The Late Games

Bucs @ Panthers

This was a good news bad news game for the Bucs as they may have won the game but they lost Cadillac Williams for the rest of the year so Cadillac owners make sure to claim Earnest Graham who looks like he will get the majority of the work as well as the goal line carries. As predicted Deshaun Foster did very little against the re-energized Buc Defense who held the Panthers scoreless until garbage time. Fantasy superstar Steve Smith has had bad games back-to-back and if Jake is not back next week it could be ugly for third week in a row.

Hawks vs the 49ers

Matt Hasselback passed for two TD’s and 281 yards on the way to Victory and Deion Branch was his primary target hauling in 7 balls for 130 yards. The 49ers were led by Frank Gore who went for 130 overall yards but were without Alex Smith as he left early in the game with a separated shoulder and had to turn to Dilfer who was clearly not ready to help out in anyway. The Seahawks defense may be worth picking up as they have put two good games back-to-back shutting down the Bengals and now the niners.

Bolts vs The Chiefs

I know they were chanting Marty, Marty, Marty in San Diego but maybe that chant should be Wade, Wade, Wade as the defense let this one get away. LT broke the century mark and found the end zone while Larry Johnson began to show signs of life breaking the century mark for the first time this season. Damon Huard is beginning to look like the QB who replaced Trent Green last season after the concussion finding Tony Gonzalez and the rookie Dwayne Bowe in the end zone who is a good person to add your roster if you need WR help as 164 and a TD are solid numbers.

Broncos @ The Colts

Peyton Manning reminded everyone of why he is a fantasy superstar as he ran for one and threw for 3 TD’s. The Colts did lose Marvin Harrison early in the game but no matter as Peyton, Addai, Wayne and Clark clearly had enough to make the Bronco’s go home losers. Jay Cutler has yet to have his breakout game this season but threw for one and ran for another, while the backfield of Henry and Young combine to rush for over 200 yards so don’t give up on the Broncos offensive players yet.

The Cards vs. The Steel Curtain

The Wizzenator and his QB time share may not be friendly to fantasy footballers but certainly the folks in Phoenix like him as the Cards and their defense sent The Steel Curtain back to Pittsburgh with their first loss of the season. From a fantasy perspective we now know that Ariziona’s QB situation is one to stay away from but Edge is looking good as he ran for 70+ yards and a score. Big Ben continues to have a solid season as he threw for 244 yards + 2 scores both to Santonio Holmes who is following up on his fantastic finish to last season with a breakout campaign. Santonio should be a permanent fixture in your line-up. Willie Parker owners have to be disappointed in his performance as 37 yards on the ground is not what you expected but my hats off to the Cardinals defense that certainly has looked tough early on this season.

Our Sunday Night Contest

The G-Men vs. The Eagles

I am sure many fantasy owners were disappointed to find out that Westbrook was on the bench as he was a late scratch but the real missing piece for the Eagles was Tra Thomas who was replaced by Winston Justice who simply got manhandled by the G-men’s defensive ends. The Eagles offensive line gave up 12 sacks and even when they did not sack Donovan they certainly caused him to throw the ball away. So my friends the question is are the G-men this good or the Eagles this bad? I for one think it is a little bit of both as the G-men are on a roll led by Strahan and company on the defense and Eli and Burress on O. While they may not be as good as Romo’s Boys they certainly look like the second best team in the NFC East. I still think the Eagles O will get better as they have a bye next week to figure out what went wrong and a have a chance to get everyone healthy.

What to do in Week 4?

Well it is the first bye week of the season as the Titans, Redskins, Jaguars & The Saints get a bye which I have to say is probably good thing for those who are Saints fans and owners of the disappointing quartet of Brees, Colston, Bush and Mcallister. This week is also going to be a challenge to owners as the injury bug has hit the NFL hard with stars dropping like flys such as the aforementioned McAllister who is out for the year and consesus #2 pick Steven Jackson who has torn 40% of his groin muscle which seems to me like quite alot for a running back. So the question is where do you go to find help in Week 4 and who do you start? As always I see no need to mention you play the studs like Manning, Palmer, Brady, Romo, LT, Gore, Addai, Ocho Cinco, S. Smith, Marvin, Gates, etc....

QB's

Start em -
  1. Favre - Great Match-up vs. the Vikings and the Packers have no running game
  2. Cutler - The match-up against Indy should be a shoot-out
  3. Big Ben - The Cardinals are tough against the run so expect Big Ben to expose their weak pass defense.
  4. Kitna - Bears are realing and beat up on D and Detroit's offense is tough to stop

Sleeper of the week - Joey Harrington - Falcons can't run and well Houston isn't exactly the Steel Curtain

Sit em

  1. Leinhart - Matt is one step away from a permanent seat on the bench next to Wisenhunt so avoid him at all costs
  2. Pennington - Something tells me the Jets want to be a running team and the Bills should make that an easy decision
  3. Green - Trent is going to find Oaklands secondary to be a bit more challenging then that of the Jets
  4. Ravens, Vikings, Bills QB's - enough said all of them are back-ups or are in time shares

Bust of the week - Bulger - I know Dallas's D is shaky but something tells me this game is a rout and over by the third quarter

RB's

Start'em

  1. Lamont Jordan - Get on the gravy train folks the ex-Terp running back is on his way to a big season and the fish are certainly not going to put an end to that.
  2. Thomas Jones - Buffalo is on the verge of a long season and TJ is just getting warmed up
  3. Houston's starting back - Dayne or Gado go pick em up and plug them in against the Falcons who will find a way to self destruct
  4. Marion Barber - Don't care if it is a timeshare he is the one who matters.

Sleeper of the week - Derrick Ward (NYG) - Something tells me that the G-men will do everything they can to keep McNabb off the field and the Eagles D doesn't scare me.

Sit em'

  1. GreenBay Backs - Do they even have one that matters and no one runs against the Vikes.
  2. Ronnie Brown - The Raiders shut down Jamal after a big week and they will do the same against RB this week
  3. Larry Johnson - I know you may have picked him in the top 5 but the Chargers are angry and that D is vicious
  4. Deshaun Foster - Another one week wonder who only plays well against the Falcons.

Bust of the week - Edgerrin James - If he thought the Ravens were tough well the Steel Curtain is back and he will have a tough time gaining any ground.

WR's

Start em

  1. Donald Driver - The Vikings are great against the run but not so much agains the pass.
  2. Javon Walker - Love the match-up and he is due for a big game.
  3. Bernard Berrian - Good-Bye Rex - Hello Brian and did anyone see what Kevin Curtis did the Lions Pass defense.
  4. Roy Williams - Expect the big numbers to continue for this superstart

Sleeper of the week - Roddy White (ATL) - This 3rd year receiver is on the verge of having a statement game and this might just be the week.

Sit em

  1. D-Jax - Is there even a passing offense in San Fran any longer? So much for the big year for Alex Smith
  2. Lee Evans - New QB - No momentum - someone send him a lifeline
  3. Chris Chambers - I know he has been getting alot of balls thrown his way but the Raiders are the toughest D that Miami has faced and their CB's are gonig to create match-up problems.
  4. Braylon Edwards - Won't be enough time for Derek Anderson to find him..look for the Ravens to shut down Cleveland all together

Bust of the week - Deion Branch - He has a tough match-up against Nate Clements who for $8MM a year will shut him down.

Defenses

Start'em

  1. Baltimore - Great D vs. Overated Offense makes for a great match-up
  2. Steelers - Tomlin has this team playing great
  3. Patriots - If Rudi doesn't start this team will be one dimensional and even without cheating Bill will have his team ready
  4. Bucs - The Bucs are back and the Panthers are just an average team

Sleeper of the week - Cowboys - No Jackson, Bulger has broken ribs and no-line..I smell alot of TO's in this one.

Sit'em

  1. Bears - That's right maybe Hester scores a special teams TD but I think this is a shoot-out and the Bears are all banged up.
  2. 49ers - Tough match-up and this team is hanging on by a thread.
  3. Vikings - Something tells me GB is going to air it out and put up quite a few points
  4. Dolphins - Safe to say the vaunted Dolphins D is no longer....

Bust of the week - Carolina - No pass rush, No DB's, No offense - enough said

Kickers

Start em

  1. Akers - Lots of FG's are given up by the Gints
  2. Folk - Lots of scoring in Big D
  3. Stover - Ravens will slow the game down once they get ahead
  4. Vinateri - High scoring affair with Denver
  5. Rakers - AZ may only be able to kick FG's

Sit'em - This simply isn't worth the typing...
